Colobus
monkeys live in Africa and travel in large family groups of 20 or
more. They move through the treetops together, eating huge amounts
of leaves. There most distinguishing feature is their beautiful,
long tail.
The
colobus has had its problems with humans, its fur being used both
by Africans in traditional ceremonies, and by Europeans for coats
and wraps. Fortunately, today, many countries in the world prohibit
the import of endangered species products.
